Gas Safety Case

Multinet has a plan (Safety Case) setting out safety management policies and procedures relating to gas safety. Energy Safe Victoria (formerly the Office of Gas Safety) assesses the plan for approval and conducts on-going audits to ensure that Multinet complies with its provisions of its plan. A copy of Multinet's Safety Case was submitted to Energy Safe Victoria (then the Office of Gas Safety). The following document is a summary of Multinet's current Gas Safety Case.

Gas Leaks

If there is a gas leak in the house, turn off all gas appliances including pilot lights and the gas supply at the gas meter. Most meters are mounted at the front or side of the house. Keep people clear of the area and ensure there is no risk of ignition (for instance, someone smoking, or electrical appliance in the near vicinity).

Who do you contact?

If you have a gas leak, call your current gas retailer immediately.

If you smell gas in the street or on your property before or including the meter, you should call your natural gas distribution company to locate and repair the leak. The number is located on your gas bill under Emergencies or Faults.

If however, if you believe the leak to be after the meter on a section of pipe work connecting your appliances, or on the appliance itself, you can contact any licensed gasfitter to rectify the problem. Remember, any person undertaking work involving gas must be appropriately licensed.
