Multinet is Bringing Natural Gas to the Yarra Ranges

Multinet Gas with the support of the State Government of Victoria's $70 Million Natural Gas Extension Program is reticulating natural gas to nine towns in the Yarra Ranges Shire as part of their Natural Gas Extension Program. The location of these towns is shown on the Distribution Area Map. The project will see reticulation of approximately 150 km of gas mains, passing 6000 homes and businesses when completed in 2008. Construction on this $24 million dollar project began in April 2005. For information on the progress of the project, please look at our Construction Updates.

By connecting to natural gas, residents and businesses will have the opportunity to select a wider range of appliances when purchasing new appliances such as heaters, hot water units and cooktops.

Multinet Gas has contracted Alinta Asset Management to be the project manager responsible for the construction, operation and maintenance of the new gas network. Should you be seeking a connection to natural gas, you will first need to establish a gas retail contract with a Licensed Energy Gas retailer. The Essential Services Commission of Victoria (ESC) has developed lists of retailers for residential consumers wishing to shop around. This is available on the ESC website.
