Appliance rebates (also called ‘cashbacks’) are available to homes and small businesses in Victoria who are connected to the gas network owned by Multinet Gas Networks. There are no restrictions imposed on customers relating to the energy retailer, nor brand or star rating of appliance they choose.  To find out if your property is in a Multinet Gas Networks area, refer to our postcode list here.

Availability of, and terms and conditions pertaining to rebates vary, depending on the type of appliance being installed as well as the property type (new build versus existing). An appliance must be fully connected to claim the cashback. If a new connection bonus is applicable, the gas pipework and meter must be installed, with at least one natural gas appliance connected.

Multinet’s rebate campaign for 2023 commenced on 1 January 2023 and will now conclude on 31 December 2023 (‘Promotion Period’); noting the end date of this promotion has recently been extended.

For eligible appliances installed between 1 January 2023 and 31 October 2023, an application for cashback must be lodged by 31 December 2023 to be valid (visit www.mgnpromotions.com.au).

For eligible appliances installed between 1 November 2023 and 31 December 2023 a grace period for lodging an application for cashback will remain open until 29 February 2024.

Appliances purchased by 31 December 2023 will also be offered a 2-month grace period to facilitate installation and cashback application.

If an existing home property also connected to natural gas for the first time, a once-off $500 connection bonus is payable. The connection is considered to be finalised once a gas meter has been installed and at least one appliance has been fully connected. The timelines for cashback application for this incentive will be aligned with the appliance installation outlined above.

If for any reason you experience circumstances that may impact claiming by the set deadlines noted above, the applicant must contact Multinet Rebate Team on 03 8840 3880 or multinetpromos@agig.com.au before the deadline to get an extension in writing. Claims received after the deadline period and without prior approval will not be valid.

Natural gas incentives (including Appliance Rebates and New Connection Bonus) can be received in one of two ways:

• - If your installer is registered with Multinet as a rebate partner they will manage the rebate claim on your behalf and offer you a discounted price. If so, it should be itemised on your installation invoice. Your installer will take care of the rebate paperwork for you and be reimbursed by Multinet – no action is required by you.

• - If your installer doesn't provide this service to you, you can visit our Cashback website to make your own claim once your gas connection has been completed and/or your new appliance has been commissioned. You will need to provide a copy of the appliance Gas Compliance Certificate and your purchase/installation invoice as part of the application. Approved cashbacks will be paid as a deposit to a nominated bank account.
